Zoo Trip

We had so much fun launching our inquiry into sustainability by visiting the zoo!

We learned all about our native flora and fauna, which are taonga to our country. We found out what we can do to protect these taonga.

Some examples are:
- Making sure we keep dogs under control
- Making sure cats wear bells around their neck
- How to keep the habitats of native animals clean and safe

Making Oobleck

We made Oobleck as part of our concept for the term - 'We are all Scientists'.

Here is a video so you can try at home! Beware, it's very messy!

Science Road Show

The science road show came to visit us. We learned all about physical and chemical change.

Physical Change is when you can change something back to how it was e.g. mixing salt and water.

With Chemical Change, the change cannot be reversed e.g. burning paper.

We saw cool experiments and got to test machines!

Vaiaso o le Gagana Sāmoa

Talofa!

'O ā mai 'oe?

Room 26 had a great week celebrating the language and culture of Sāmoa. Have a look at what we got up to!

We had a lesson with Mrs Malietoa. She shared knowledge about the traditions and customs in Sāmoa.

On Friday we dressed up for a whole school celebration, the staff joined in too!

We did a quiz, quiz, trade to test our knowledge.

Winter Sports Tournament

On Tuesday the senior school competed in the Papatoetoe Winter Sport Tournament. Room 26 had a number of students represent the school in netball, soccer and rugby. All students played hard and left everything on the court / field (so much so that we had a few fall asleep on the bus back)!

Seini in action!

Chetan in action!

Writing

At the moment we are looking at explanation writing. This is when you write to explain how to do something. To support your child at home do some cooking and baking together and discuss the steps along the way!

Art

We have started the term by learning about the colour wheel and discussing primary and secondary colours. We will use this knowledge in our Art Project for the term!
